Usage-based Billing - The bane of my existence.

Usage based billing sucks. I never really had to worry too much about it before, but ever since we got Netflix and have been purchasing music, games and movies legitimately via the interwebs, I have a hard time sticking to my 175GB, especially since we're three fairly heavy users (well, 2+1 light user) at the homestead.

Paying $1.25/GB is not my idea of fair, especially when it costs pennies to get that data to my house. It's bad enough that my cell phone bill is ridiculous, but generally speaking, if you're going to put a data pipe to my house, I want to be able to suck down as much data as I possibly can.

On G20 Protest and Police Actions

Allow me to preface this whole post by saying that I am not, nor have I ever been, an expert in constitutional or criminal law. I may have a degree in political science, but there are lots of people out there who'll have far more informed and educated perspectives and opinions on the subject. Additionally, given that this is still a developing story, there are a great deal of facts that have yet to surface, and may never surface. So consider this some reflections on the subject of police actions, security and protest actions. So, without any further ado, here's what MAB thinks about all the G20 craziness.

Thoughts on the Eberron Campaign World

I've been reading through the Eberron Campaign Guide for D&D 4.0, and I must say, I'm really enjoying the campaign world. Whereas Forgotten Realms, say, is a world about black and white, Eberron is very much a world about shades of grey.

What does that mean? Well, fundamentally, the world of Eberron is one steeped in mystique, intrigue and moral ambiguity. Where alliances shift as easily as a pouch of coins changes hands, there's certainly a lot of intrigue to be had. Add in a generally detached pantheon, dragons and demons plotting, and humans doing what they do best: self destruction; and you've got yourself a campaign world rife with possibilities.

What I'm most looking forward to this summer.

Summer is nearly upon us. In fact, it might as well be for most of us. Except our poor friends in Calgary who are still getting snow. (I can't help but laugh just a little bit!) And summer means a lot of things. First among them, though, is fresh fruits and vegetables!

Video: Magic Highway USA (Disney)

Here is a great video that my friend Mara shared with me recently, showcasing thoughts in the 50's about what the future of transportation would look like. It's amazing just how insightful some of this stuff was, but it's equally as amusing to see just how off some of it was too. I highly recommend you take the time and watch it in its entirety though.
