A friend, after seeing my list of things I'm excited about, pointed me in the direction of a Stardock (of Galactic Civilizations I/II fame) game coming out next week called Elemental: War of Magic. It looks like a really neat RTS cross 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate) game set in a high-fantasy setting. I have to admit, I'm getting pretty high-fantasied-out. But the game itself looks promising.

A number of key features include a great deal of customisability (design your own gear! your own avatar! your own destiny!), 32-player multiplayer and flexible system specs that that will allow players on everything from the most expensive gaming rig right on down to a netbook. The latter remains to be seen, of course, but it's good that developers are keeping others in mind when developing their games.

Anyway, looks like it'll be very interesting, and I'll have Starcraft II to tide me over until its August 24, 2010 release date.
