Anecdotes

These are personal anecdotes that don't necessarily have anything to do with anything.

Unscheduled Hot Water Tank Inspection

So, someone claiming to be from some company I'd never heard of before today rang my doorbell and informed me that he was here to do an inspection of my hot water tank rental. Which is odd, because, well, I hadn't scheduled an inspection with the provider of my rental, and my provider had never indicated to me that this particular company was involved in the inspection or maintenance of my hot water tank.

The Chill of Winter

As I was walking to a fundraising committee meeting this evening, I realized there was a distinct bite to the chill in the air. I realized that while I'd been wearing the liner of my winter jacket for the past few weeks, that it wasn't going to suffice anymore, and that I'd need to tack on the shell, if I'm going to survive the winter.

I hate the winter. Sorry, that's not quite true. I love winter because it's cool in the house and I can wrap myself up with blankets and kittens and hubbies (err, hubby, singular), but I hate the fact that it's cold outside. Like, really cold. Outside in winter has never really appealed to me, at all, even as a kid. I'm much more comfortable inside somewhere cool/warm with a nice cup of (adult) hot chocolate.

Painting the Home Office... Ugh!

You know what's a fun thing to start doing at 10:00pm? Painting!

Seriously though, I finally got off my duff today and started painting by priming my walls with a tinted primer, hopefully eliminating the need for too many coats of paint. Anyway, here's the "before" with the awful dusty rose colour, and some of the edge painting that I did using the blue-tinted primer:

Starcraft 2: She's Out and I Don't Have Her

Starcraft 2: The Wings of Liberty is out today, and I don't have a copy. I made the silly mistake of ordering it from Amazon a few weeks ago with super-saver shipping, and they're predicting to get it to me on August 3rd, the day AFTER the long weekend.

That'll teach me to be frugal. Or be an online shopper. *sigh*

Home "Improvements"... Ugh.

So, we're having two friends move in very soon, and in order to get them set up, we've put up two new walls and a door so that they can have a nice spacious living space in the basement. Of course, this means that we've got to re-home the stuff that's down there, and some of it (the boardgames, mostly) are going to end up in my office, and the movies and some furniture in the hubby's office space.
