It occurs to me that I haven't posted anything here in a looooooooong while. My bad! I completely forgot that I had a blog, and to be honest, life got a little crazy over the spring and summer of last year and when I started my M.Sc. in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa back in September, the last thing I had time for was internet bloggery.

I suppose I'm going to try changing that, maybe refocusing the content here a little bit. I've become a science nerd and a research scientist after all, having finally freed myself of the shackles of the federal government (at least while I'm in school), and I'm doing really cool stuff.

So what's the long story short of the past year?

Separated.
Sold house.
Moved back in with parents.
Started school.

Max Adler, the super adorable actor who plays the utterly confused Dave Karofsky in Glee, about two months ago after the airing of "the kiss" (you know which one I'm talking about!) posted this video for the It Gets Better project.

Usage based billing sucks. I never really had to worry too much about it before, but ever since we got Netflix and have been purchasing music, games and movies legitimately via the interwebs, I have a hard time sticking to my 175GB, especially since we're three fairly heavy users (well, 2+1 light user) at the homestead.

Paying $1.25/GB is not my idea of fair, especially when it costs pennies to get that data to my house. It's bad enough that my cell phone bill is ridiculous, but generally speaking, if you're going to put a data pipe to my house, I want to be able to suck down as much data as I possibly can.

So it's no state secret that I'm a huge fan of corny jokes. Or that I'm really in to epidemiology and the health care field in general. I stumbled across this joke a while ago, and reading the whole foo-for-ah surrounding the OMG CHICKEN MCNUGGETS MAKES KIDS STUPID articles that are floating around reminded me of it. So, someone claiming to be from some company I'd never heard of before today rang my doorbell and informed me that he was here to do an inspection of my hot water tank rental. Which is odd, because, well, I hadn't scheduled an inspection with the provider of my rental, and my provider had never indicated to me that this particular company was involved in the inspection or maintenance of my hot water tank.
